The intermingling of fear and faith.
November 3, 2023
Last weekend I partnered with someone important in my life to declare a Sunday Soul Search. Just one word each that we hang onto for the week - bringing it into all we think, do and feel for 7 days. The word may emit desire, vision, or even fear. The last territory, fear, can be scrupulous and scary. Sometimes we need to push ourselves into a place of fear to succumb and then surpass...Expand our emotional quotient beyond its current state, pushing for possibility.
Imagine if you went into the week with the term "excitement", you could look at all that comes to you with an energy of just that - fervor and a flavor of pure fascination. What if your word was "determination", it could get you through the uncomfortable, the beautiful opportunities awaiting you, the goal you've set for yourself.
I was pensive that Sunday wanting to have the most meaningful word for the week. Rather than push for it, I kept the concept front and center in my mind as I went about my day. Later that evening, my soul made an impressionable declaration for FAITH.
It was the intermingling of fear and faith that brought so much forward for me over those 7 days. So many of the things I truly "needed" to feel fulfilled came to me because I held on tightly to the uncertainty of the single term - FAITH. This engagement in Sunday Soul Search has given me permission to be vulnerable with myself, with those in my life and the visions I have for what's to come.
You may feel a little bit of fear in choosing a term for the week. Fear for it not coming to fruition, not guiding you as intended, not being what you needed in that moment. Each of the aforementioned is really self-doubt, not fear. Fear is a powerful emotion that in my opinion means you are on the RIGHT path. It means you're taking a risk to learn more, experience more, offer more, and become more of who you want to be.
It's here that I encourage you to find a partner in your life to consider engaging in this practice. It's really so simple with far reaching implications. Keep it posted in front of you, a friendly reminder of what both fear and faith can gift you if you open up to the concept of their inseparable duo.
